Context
- A warm temperate continental climate with shortage of precipitation
- A hydraulic network disturbed by excessive partitioning
- A saline soil with limitation for cultivation and trees development
To fully analyse the dynamics of Panjin estuary ecosystem, Phytorestore recommend conducting complementary measures on few parameters (hydraulic networks, soil pH and soil structure, etc.)
Over-harvesting of reeds emphasizes this situation as uncut reeds constitute a natural barrier against waves and erosion. If this situation goes on, the estuary will progressively be eroded and the coastal lands will become too saline for cultivation and biodiversity development.
Changes in the management of Panjin Estuary are necessary to allow the ecosystem to recover its resilience.
